Uelzen visits the lads and lasses in blue
While the children were pleased to have seen the cells they all agreed that they would never do anything that would cause the police to take them into custody!
There was great excitement when the Grade ones and twos of Uelzen Primary, accompanied by their teachers, visited their local police station in Glencoe.
The wide-eyed youngsters were welcomed by Station Commissioner, Lt Col Masuku, Vispol Commander, Captain van Jaarsveld and Sgt Vilakazi who gave the children a guide of the police complex.
They were taken to the charge office where members of the public go to daily to report crime and ask for assistance and other sections of the police station: the human resources office, finance office, the victim friendly facility and even the Station Commissioner’s office!
However, it was the police cells that they really wanted to see and were eager to know ‘as to how the cells look inside’.
While the children were pleased to have seen the cells they all agreed that they would never do anything that would cause the police to take them into custody!
