Burglars ‘arrested’ by community
When the two suspects returned to collect their loot, they were grabbed and tied up by community members
Two burglars were tied up and handed over to police yesterday after being “caught out” by community members.
The suspects broke into a flat across the road from the post office and ransacked the place, making off with various items. They then went to the taxi rank at the bottom of Queen Street, where they gave the goods to a woman for safekeeping.
The woman went through the items the two men had given her and came across a Curriculum Vitae that clearly did not belong to either of them. She then realised it was most probably stolen goods.
When the two suspects returned to collect their loot, they were grabbed and tied up by community members.
The K9 Unit was notified and Captain Hlongwane, who was off duty at the time, went out and arrested the two men.
