20 Years for Bhekuzulu rapist

Ntombela is said to have broken into the home of a 42-year-old victim at midnight on January 14.

Following several court appearances, a local man was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for rape and housebreaking on Wednesday, December 2.

Sigcino Ricardo Ntombela (26) was convicted and sentenced after being found guilty of both charges which are related to an attack that occurred in January, earlier this year.

Ntombela is said to have broken into the home of a 42-year-old victim at midnight on January 14.

It is alleged that the man switched on the lights, waking up the victim. He proceeded to draw out a knife and covered the victim up before raping her.

After the attack, Ntombela stabbed the victim in the back and fled the scene on foot.

A case of rape was opened at Vryheid police station and the docket was transferred to Vryheid Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation.

It was through these investigations that the SAPS managed to catch Ntombela and after numerous court appearances, he has been sentenced.
