Boy trapped when dam banks burst

It is understood that the banks of the nearby dam had burst, causing the streams to overflow and trapping the young boy

It was a happy ending to a terrifying experience for a 12-year-old boy from Bruntville in Mooi River.

He was rescued by paramedics and fire services this afternoon after he was found trapped on a small bank between streams.

“It is understood that the banks of the nearby dam had burst, causing the streams to overflow and trapping the young boy,” said ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring.

Working with the fire services, paramedics extended a long ladder from the fire truck, which reached the child.

“Once the child was brought to safety, paramedics assessed the boy and found that he had escaped without injuries. No other injuries were found on scene,” added Mr Meiring.
