4-vehicle collision at Kandahar / Princess intersection
The driver of the Hilux bakkie sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised by Sharaj Ambulance Services

4 vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection of Kandahar Avenue and Princess Street this morning.
According to bystanders, there was an initial collision between a Toyota Hilux bakkie, which was turning right towards Kandahar Avenue, and a truck marked as ‘multi-load’.
The bakkie spun, before coming to a standstill. A stationary VW Polo was hit by the bakkie’s canopy. After crashing into the bakkie, the ‘multi-load’ truck then drove into another truck that was travelling along Kandahar Avenue.
The driver of the Hilux bakkie sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised by Sharaj Ambulance Services before being transported to hospital.
Fire Prevention officer Koos Grobler had to be called to the scene, as it was suspected that the goods being carried by the ‘multi-load’ truck were hazardous. After inspection, Mr Grobler gave emergency personnel the green light, indicating that the goods were Soda Ash Light (not hazardous).
“Soda Ash, the trade name for sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), is a white, anhydrous, powdered or granular material. It is an essential raw material used in the manufacturing of glass, detergents, chemicals and other industrial products.“
