Dannhauser residents have come up with their own safety measures following two recent brutal murders in the area and now several house robberies on Camp Road.
Colin Krause of the Dannhauser Residents Group said local man, Afzal Khan has come up with a good-old fashioned whistle.
“The whistles can be bought for a moderate sum and used by residents. It is a back-up system that has become necessary.’
Last week Solly Ahmod was attacked in his house.
He was hit with a gun on his head and was rushed to Dundee hospital for treatment.
On November 21, Iqbal Amod was attacked and robbed by three armed men in his house. Goods were also stolen.
In September, the town was rocked by the murders of Piet Mareé and Venktas Govender in the space of two days.
