Clamping down on festive season crime in KZN
A total of 959 suspects were arrested and have appeared in courts throughout the province
The KZN police department carried out a number of operations from November 30 to December 6, in which a total of 959 suspects were arrested for crimes such as murder, attempted murder, rape, business robbery, house robbery and hijacking.
Other offences included theft of motor vehicles, assault, kidnapping, fraud, stock theft, shop lifting, possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of drugs. Alcohol was seized.
The arrested suspects have appeared in various courts around the province.
KZN Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, congratulated police for the successes achieved and said that such operations will continue throughout the festive season.
