UPDATE: Mum reports on condition of Lucas Meyer pupil
My only struggle now is getting him to take it easy in order for the wound to heal properly as he is a very energetic little boy

The mother of little Duard Pieterse has confirmed that he is recovering well after being injured in the tragic crash that took place on Wednesday in Landrost Street.
The 10 year-old and his friend Timothy had just been to Lucas Meyer School to fetch their report cards and was cycling home with a friend when he was hit by a car coming from behind them.
It is alleged that the boy had been riding along the pavement in Landrost Street and suddenly veered onto the road.
The driver of the vehicle that was behind them had not anticipated the sudden activity and as a result hit the little boy.
According to Duard’s mother, Amanda Brown, the little boy was rushed to the doctor where, after a few check-ups, the doctor found no respiratory issues.
“The doctor then referred us to Newcastle Private Hospital as he said that the wound needed to be cleaned up properly by a specialist, and so we took him there,” explained Miss Brown.
At the hospital, the big wound on the boy’s right leg was cleaned up and stitched.
X-rays were also taken to see whether he had broken any bones, and miraculously, not a single bone in the child’s body was broken.
“In the ambulance when the paramedics were helping him, we were all certain that he had broken a rib as he kept complaining about a pain in his chest, but I think that the pain may have just been caused by shock,” she went on.
Duard is said to be recovering very well at home.
