Urgent Exco meeting to seek water solutions

Exco takes decisions to try to ensure that residents continue to have access to water as the drought continues.

Of the three boreholes to be commissioned by the municipality, one will be dedicated specifically for use by businesses.

This was decided at a special meeting of the Abaqulusi executive council yesterday.

Jojo tanks will also be placed at various points, which will be refilled daily by the town’s water tankers.

There will, however, be a limit on the amount of water that can be collected at municipal sources and it will be the responsibility of ward councillors to ensure that residents do not exceed the stipulated quantity of water.

Access to municipal water points will be restricted to between 7am and 5pm.

Municipal stakeholders will be meeting on a weekly basis to discuss and attempt to solve issues arising from the water crisis until the draught is over.
