Father behind bars for brutally assaulting his child

The 14-year-old girl was later taken to a nearby clinic for medical attention, from there she was immediately rushed to Estcourt Hospital

Amangwe police were made aware of a child who was allegedly being assaulted by her father in Tatane, Loskop on December 9 at about 9.30am.

Police rushed to the scene of the crime where they found that the man’s daughter was locked in a room.

The 14-year-old girl was later taken to a nearby clinic for medical attention, from there she was immediately rushed to Estcourt Hospital due to the severity of bruises, which covered her body.

A case was filed with Amangwe police and the suspect was arrested and charged with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The case is being investigated by the Estcourt Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS). The 36-year-old briefly appeared before the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, December 10.
