Klip River in full flow

uThukela, while officially not removing water restrictions, is still pumping water 24/7

While no one wants to go on record and say the drought is over, things for Ladysmith are looking good. It does not look like water restrictions in the town itself will officially be lifted yet. An official notice from uThukela District Municipality will have to be published to end restrictions. This would only be likely if rain continued falling for the rest of the month. Currently, restrictions are still in force, despite the Klip River flowing at near capacity.

Farmers are the ones most affected and while grass is beginning to grow, farm dams are still way below sustainable levels.

Everyone is holding thumbs that rains continue to fall.

A warning to low-lying areas that flash flooding is possible has been issued in some areas.
