Update: No water in certain areas

Engineers have been working since last night to purify the water supply and clean out the silt

uThukela expect to restore water supply in the affected areas by the end of today (Thursday).

Ezakheni, the Ezakheni Industrial Area and Acaciavale have been without water since this morning.

According to uThukela, even though the town has experienced heavy rainfall, there is a problem of silt (high turbidity) clogging the pipes at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Plant. Engineers have been working since last night to purify the water supply and clean out the silt.

Water tankers will be sent out to the affected areas during the course of the day. However, uThukela say that the job confronting them is a mammoth one and the dispatching of water tankers will be dependent on the timetable of the job.
