uThukela fails to provide water

Water tankers will be sent to the affected areas

Despite heavy rainfall over the last few days, uThukela District Municipality has failed to provide water to some parts of town.

The communities of Ezakheni, Ezakheni Industrial Area and Acaciavale are without water. This is due to high turbidity (having sediment or foreign particles in the water, ie silt) at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Plant.

According to communication officer Jabulani Mkonza, engineers are trying to “dose poly in the water”, but it might take a couple of hours to get it back to normal.

Water tankers will be sent out to the affected areas to assist. uThukela promises to keep the communities updated on when the problem will be resolved. At this stage, it is unclear how long it may take.

The municipality apologies for any inconvenience.
