Relief from Zululand District

Zululand’s Deputy director for Development and Planning, Stefan Landman, confirmed that he had received Abaqulusi’s cry for help to ensure continued access to water.

Zululand District Municipality (ZDM) sent geo-hydrologists out this week to identify boreholes in and around Vryheid that could be repaired and used.

In the meantime, ZDM will make 10 JoJo tanks available to Abaqulusi, with 60 more JoJo tanks on their way soon.

“Even though we are limited in terms of budget, we are committed to the boreholes and the order is out to equip some of the boreholes already,” said Mr Landman.

Abaqulusi Mayor, Patience Khaba, expressed appreciation for the JoJo tanks, as well as for tankers that were received from ZDM in December.
