Hitting the competition for a six, Ferrum High School pupil, Sunè Pawson, is taking the cricket world by storm.
In September last year, the teen was selected to participate in the KwaZulu-Natal Inland u/19 cricket trials at City Oval in Pietermaritzburg. Not only was she selected to represent the team, but she was also elected captain.
The Inland team had a rough road ahead, as they prepared for the Cricket South Africa u/19 Girls’ Cricket Week held in Durban from December 11 to December 15.
Sunè served the team well in her role as captain, and scored two half centuries on separate occasions. In addition, she took seven wickets during her time on the pitch.
The announcement of those who would be included in the South African u/19 team came at lunchtime on day five. Here, Sunè made history as the first female player from Ferrum, as well as the KZN Inland region to make the team.
The school is incredibly proud of its budding cricket star.
