Mass casualties as vehicles collide in Ezakheni
The taxi driver fled the scene on foot, but police managed to apprehend him
A taxi and a VW Polo collided in Ezakheni this afternoon (Friday).
There were 14 passengers in the taxi and the driver of the Polo was alone in the car. Mass casualties were reported and all the passengers were transported to hospital.
The taxi driver allegedly did not have a licence and the two number plates on the vehicle did not correspond to each other; the front number plate read GP and the back NKR.
The taxi driver fled the scene on foot, but police managed to apprehend him.
The driver of the Polo sustained only slight injuries and did not need to be taken to hospital.
