WITH THE water crisis having hit town, many of the public facilities have taken strain and among these, local schools have also had their fair share of water issues to deal with.
According to NRS’ principal Mr Jonker, the school has invested R30 000 toward their water system.
They have purchased water tanks and are also currently working on linking the schools water system to their borehole.
“Everything should be up and running by next week and we are confident that the borehole and tanks will see us through the water crisis,” said Mr Jonker.
Vryheid High School is also geared up as they are currently using water from one of the school’s two boreholes.
“We are currently using water from the borehole on the school premises. We also have another one at the sports field,” Vryheid High’s prinicpal Mr Le Roux explained.
According to Mr Le Roux, the school also has two Jojo tanks of 5000litres each at their hostel for when municipal water-cuts occur.
“At the moment it is safe to say that we will be able to function well should any water cuts occur. Water will be supplied to all parts of the school including the hostel,” Mr Le Roux concluded.
