New water restrictions for Vryheid
According to the Chairman of the ZDM Department of Water and sanitation, Mr Gumede, this process is long overdue .

It was decided at Friday’s water crisis meeting, held at the Zululand District municipality, that tighter water restrictions would have to be implemented in Vryheid.
From today, Monday, households in town will only receive water for five hours from 4am to 9am every day for the next two weeks.
An irrigation dam, near Scheepersnek, is being investigated as an alternative water source for when Klipfontein, Grootgewacht and Hlobane dams run dry.
It was also pointed out that Klipfontein Dam was currently sitting at 20.05%.
According to Gibson Gumede from the Department of Water and Sanitation, the process of conserving water is long overdue and Vryheid residents cannot afford to have water supplied to their taps 24/7 any longer as the dam levels are incredibly low.
