Michaelis School – Pupils take to the tennis courts

Congratulations to Awande who was selected as third player and Daniela who was selected as second reserve for the NKZN tennis team. Awande, we wish you all of the best for the provincial trials at the end of the month in Pietermaritzburg.

THE Vryheid Regional Tennis Trials took place on January 27 at the Lawn Tennis Club.

Thirty learners from Lucas Meyer, Lüneburg and Michaelis School attended the trials. Congratulations to the following learners who were selected for the Vryheid Regional Team. Girls: Awande Mbuli (Michaelis), Judith Schnackenberg (Lüneburg), Daniela Vonkeman (Michaelis) and Anika Smit (Lucas Meyer). Boys: Matthias Gevers (Lüneburg), Keegan Gevers (Michaelis), Norman Niebuhr (Lüneburg) and Muhammad Khan (Michaelis).

NKZN Trials: On February 2, Keegan Gevers and Muhammad Khan participated in the NKZN trials in Dundee. Although most players were older and taller, these boys gave of their best. Keegan managed to carry on into the second round and even on this level he managed to win some of his games. Although he did not make the team, he gained a lot of experience.

Awande Mbuli and Daniela Vonkeman participated in the NKZN trials on Wednesday. Both players gave of their best and managed to continue through to the second round. Congratulations to Awande who was selected as third player and Daniela who was selected as second reserve for the NKZN tennis team. Awande, we wish you all of the best for the provincial trials at the end of the month in Pietermaritzburg.
