The Principal of Drakensberg Comprehensive High School Mr TTA Mlambo together with the school staff called for a grade 12 parent’s and student’s meeting, as usual, to address the challenges that the school faces in order to come up with a strategy to attain a 100 percent matric pass rate for 2016.

He stressed the need for parents to get involved in their children’s education as the school cannot do it alone. Teachers present also supported the principal and urged learners to work hard immediately and not wait until the twilight of the final year at school. Mr S Mpekwana, the Deputy Principal emphasised the need for learners to be disciplined and hardworking throughout the year.

Drakensberg Comprehensive High School is a very small school in Wembezi with very limited resources. One can easily go past the school without even noticing it. However the school has produced lots of highly successful citizens of Estcourt.

Last year we achieved a 73 percent matric pass rate with 50 Bachelor passes. The school is so proud of this achievement despite the national outcry on the overall pass rate.

Our goal is to achieve 100 percent pass rate, as the Principal promised.
