Body of flash flood drowning victim recovered
The deceased has not yet been officially identified
A body was found lower downstream in the Ingula River outside Ladysmith at about 8.30am today (Wednesday).
Ladysmith K9 Search & Rescue were busy with a search of the Ingula River after reports were received that a 43-year-old man had been swept off a low bridge during a flash flood. The search began late Tuesday evening.
Warrant Officer Jacques Meyer and Gessie the police dog conducted the search in the Watersmeet area.
The search was initially called off due to treacherous conditions and was resumed early this morning (Wednesday). At about 8.30am, the body was found.
The deceased has not yet been officially identified and police have opened an inquest docket.
