Vryheid High School – Preparation for winter sport

Some of the VHS female educators went to the ‘Karkloof Canopy Zipline’ this weekend and had great fun ‘ziplining’ while enjoying the magnificent scenery. They had a good time with this great adventure.

THE first boy’s hockey team participated in the Thirsti pre-season tournament at St Dominic’s new astro turf.

They lost 1-0 against Dundee High School and then beat Pioneer 2-0 before coming from behind to win 3-2 against Ferrum to book their place in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, the boys were tired after only a short break and lost to Ladysmith. The boys showed determination and began to bond as a team, while it gave the coach a good opportunity to decide on his final selections for the season.

On February 20, the 1st and u/16 netball teams travelled to Newcastle to take part in the Ferrum Panarotti’s Tournament. Both teams played two pool games. The 1st team lost both their pool games, with Kwandi, 1st team captain, receiving one of the player of the match vouchers. The u/16 team won one and lost one, going through to the semi-finals and then they lost against Ferrum ending third out of 6 teams. It was a very good learning experience for the players.
