Debut matches can be very entertaining and exciting. When Drakensview played Hamilton Preparatory from Ladysmith for the first time ever, it was no exception.

The parents and supporters were not starved of any excitement in this fixture. Hamilton won the toss and opted to bat first and put up a challenging score of 88 all out after 20 overs. Drakensview produced some wonderful fielding and took some great wickets and catches.

When Drakensview took to the crease, they got off to a bad start losing two wickets in the first over. However the middle order then stabilised the innings with some good batting.

The climax of the game came towards the end when Drakensview needed two runs off eight balls to win.

Then the magic happened when the Hamilton bowler’s last over was a maiden and sadly Drakensview lost by two runs.
What a game that was! Well done to both teams.
