A man was arrested for the rape of a four-year-old child on Monday, February 22.
Police spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela said the suspect allegedly asked the child’s grandmother for a place to rest.
The grandmother heard the child crying and rushed to the rondavel, only to find the suspect raping her grandchild. She summoned help and community members rushed to assist her.
“The community first beat up the man before phoning the police to arrest him,” Captain Magudulela said.
The child is currently in hospital in a critical condition. The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.
