Khabonina spreads hope through handbags

The project aims giving underprivileged women a secondhand or new handbag filled with basic necessities

A women’s handbag is a wondrous thing, where you never know what you will find.

Thanks to the Khabonina Social Club though, it is soon to become a symbol of hope. Inspired by a Facebook post, the social club implemented a project called Bags Of Hope.

The project aims giving underprivileged women a secondhand or new handbag filled with basic necessities, during Women’s Month in August.

“We all have an unused bag at the back of our cupboards, so why not put it to good use?” said Shalini Jogi.
Bags can be filled with basics such as a body wash, face towel, toothbrush, hair brush, tissues, sanitary towels and maybe some non-perishable snacks. Basically anything normally found in a ladies handbag, can be put into the bags.

Iris Kemp Griffiths encouraged ladies to think of the less fortunate. “No one in this life has everything that they want, so there are those who are really in need. This is a great project to help the less fortunate. Remember it is in giving that we receive, even Jesus gave. He gave his only son for our well being, what’s a hand bag with a few items? Imagine the smiles on those woman’s faces,” she said.

Contributions can be dropped off by either Iris, Lynette or Shalini. Please join us in helping to make a small difference.”If you do a good deed for other people, you end up healing yourself too because a dose of love is the best spiritual cure”
