Endumeni warns of billing and payment delays

Endumeni residents and businesses have been warned of delays in billing and payment allocations as the municipality addresses financial system challenges.

Endumeni Municipality has warned residents and businesses of delays in monthly billing, payment allocations and the updating of municipal accounts.

The warning comes amid ongoing operational challenges within the municipality’s financial system following the failure to approve the municipal budget within the required timeframe.

Statements may be delayed

In a public notice, Municipal Manager MF Hadebe said customers could experience delays in receiving accurate and up-to-date municipal statements.

Payments already made may also not immediately reflect on accounts as the municipality works to process transactions and update its financial records.

The municipality said the challenges were affecting its ability to ensure all transactions were processed and reflected on customer accounts timeously.

Residents, businesses and other municipal customers have been urged to take note of the delays while the financial system challenges are addressed.

Residents question the latest disruption

Residents who contacted the Courier voiced frustration over what one described as “more municipal drama”.

FC Bester of the Endumeni Residents’ Association questioned whether the necessary software licences had been paid for by the municipality.
