First time SAPS anglers impress
Two of our club’s “penkoppe”, Jaden Dippenaar and Anco Opperman, obtained their Provincial colours and joined the rest of the KZN team to participate in the SA championships at Bloemhof dam. This was a first time achievement for the little ones.
Two of our club’s “penkoppe”, Jaden Dippenaar and Anco Opperman, obtained their Provincial colours and joined the rest of the KZN team to participate in the SA championships at Bloemhof dam. This was a first time achievement for the little ones.
The boys had two practice days, and the competition started on December 14. On the first day, they angled at Bamboesspruit and performed very well. At the end of the day, the KZN team was in 7th position overall. On the second day, the venue changed to Sandveld, and the participant’s nerves had settled a little allowing the KZN team to end in 5th position overall. The last day was nerve wrecking as the pressure was on for them to try and eliminate the 4th position, but they managed to keep their 5th position.
The club is very proud of the boys as Jaden Dippenaar and Anco Opperman were both selected for the Nationals trials that started on December 18. With only one day to rest, they dedicatedly angled trials for another two days. Their little bodies were exhausted but they prevailed.
Congratulations Jaden and Anco, next year you will go back and perform even better. The club relies on you to do your ultimate best to be selected for one of the South African Freshwater Banks.
One of the club’s female anglers, Joanne-Mari Bezuidenhout, also got her Provincial colours for the first time and joined the rest of the KZN Ladies – President Team to take part in the SA Championships at Bloemhof dam, which started on February 15.
The KZN Ladies-President team ended in 3rd position after the first, second and third day’s angling. Every day was a new challenge and the competition was tough.
Joanne-Mari ended in 19th position overall after the first three days angling, and was selected to take part in the National trials. February 18 was a rest day and trials were underway on February 19 and 20. The trials were very tough, as it meant angling independently.
The club is very proud to announce that Joanne-Mari Bezuidenhout got selected for the SAFBAF B team and will now compete on a National level.
