18 Athletes from Newcastle High School recently took part in the Northern KwaZulu-Natal athletics meeting at Pionier High School in Vryheid.
All the athletes competed with pride and honour, representing their school at the highest level, but it was three of the athletes that stood out.
Siyanda Buthelezi took first place in the boys u15 high jump, and went so far as to break the record with a height of 1.58 metres.
Gabi East recorded a third place in the girls u19 hurdles event.
Thando Jwara obtained second place in boys u19 high jump, first place in boys u19 long jump and first place in the 100m boys u19 events.
