Eqhweni Combined School, in the Engodini area, a deep rural area in Estcourt, has once again put the Estcourt Management Centre and Uthukela district on the map.
Miss T Magwaza the Eqhweni School Environment Education Programme (SEEP) co-ordinator, Thembelihle Mdakane and the grade nine learners were invited to attend an environmental summit at the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board in Umhlanga Rocks as the school did well in Green School Awards for 2015.
During their stay they were accommodated at Holiday Inn Express Hotel for two nights. As usual they did not return empty handed. The school was awarded with a Provincial Green School Award trophy, a certificate and a number of gardening tools for being Green School.
The Principal, School Governing Body and the Eqhweni community would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who assisted the school in becoming a Green School. Special appreciation goes to the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
