Three suspects were arrested recently by Estcourt and Ladysmith police for possession of dagga.
The suspects face charges of possession of dagga and dealing in dagga.
On Thursday, March 17, Estcourt Visible Policing stopped a 46-year-old man in the Estcourt CBD and found him to be in possession of a small amount of dagga weighing a few grams.
The estimated street value is around R100.
That evening Ladysmith police officers, acting on information, searched a premises in Kandahar Avenue and found a 31-year-old woman busy producing ‘slopes’ of dagga. She had already produced 40 slopes and had a small amount of loose dagga with her.
The dagga weighed in at just under 200 grams and has an estimated street value of around R250.
Early the next day (March 18), a 22-year-old man was arrested on a charge of driving without a licence and when police searched the man, he was found in possession of a small amount of dagga.
The dagga weighed a few grams and has an estimated street value of under R100.
All three suspects appeared, respectively, in the Estcourt and Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
