A business centre in the Winterton area was robbed by two armed suspects this morning (Tuesday).
The criminals approached the centre, where they held up the security guards. One of the guards was assaulted, while the other managed to escape and alert police.
Winterton police rushed out to the scene and were met by the two suspects exiting the premises, firearms in hand.
One of the robbers was shot dead, while the other fled into nearby bushes.
Police seized an unlicensed firearm, which was found near the deceased suspect, as well as a Mercedes-Benz which was used in the robbery. The vehicle was found to have been hijacked in Malvern during October last year.
A search for the second suspect is still underway.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) were also informed of the incident.
