Time Trials conquer Vryheid – Natal Spa Marathon

2km Ladies walk: First, Lani Van Der Mescht 21m44s; second, Luzanne Van Der Mescht 22m15s.
3km Ladies walk: First, Thobeka Mbatha 24m15s; second, Kholiwe Buthelezi 25m25s.
8km Men’s run: First, Ayanda Buthelezi 29m01s; second, Bongani Sabelo 30m20s; third, Lindani Sangweni 30m41s; fourth, Joe Khumalo 31m02s; fifth, Zwelihle Duma 39m28s.
Athletes did well after running a tough and gruelling marathon on Sunday, March 20. In the 2km walk, Lani edged out Luzanne in the finishing straight. Thobeka walked the 3km walk in an impressive time. Ayanda shined in the men’s 8km run by winning this event in a fast time.
Natal Spa Marathon results
Sunday saw some of our athletes competing in the Natal Spa Marathon, hosted by Vryheid Athletic club. Nicky came in second in the 21,1km ladies event, followed by Kholiwe. In the 10km run, Joyce Shabalala came first in the 50+ age category. Thobeka Mbatha came in second in the 42,2km ladies event. Bongani Sabelo ran a cracking race in the 42,2km event, finishing second overall, followed by Thokozani, Lindani and Joe.
