On March 31, Amangwe police were conducting an intelligence-driven operation in the Slimangamehlo area where two homesteads were searched.
As a result of the operation two women, aged 51 and 56 were arrested for the possession of dagga. Several bags of dagga weighing a total of around 90 kilograms were seized along with 17 dagga plants.
The drugs have an estimated street value of around R150 000. The two suspects appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of dagga.
“We would like to warn all criminals that SAPS operations are strategically in place so that we curb any lawlessness amongst our communities,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
