Burst pipe results in water outage

The water cut may last for hours or even days...

The main raw water line from Tayside to Dundee has burst and the water outage may last for ‘several hours or even days’, Umzinyathi District Municipality warned today.

Nomonde Nzimakwe of Umzinyathi said the water flow to both Dundee and Glencoe has been reduced to retain water in the reservoirs for as long as possible.

“A constant supply is needed into the plant in order to be able to maintain healthy reservoir levels and be able to provide customers with an adequate supply of water. Dam levels are alarmingly low and communities are urged to use water sparingly as the drought is certainy not over yet. Water is life! Save Water Now!”
