Dannhauser police are investigating an arson case, following an incident on Daffodil Drive.
According to reports, a vehicle and section of a home were torched on Tuesday, April 5.
“It is alleged by the complainant that he was away when he received a message from his nephew that the house was on fire,” said Dannhauser SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Mfanafuthi Nyembe.
The fire brigade rushed to the scene, and doused the raging flames. The vehicle, a Cortina, as well as several rooms, including the kitchen and bedroom, were badly damaged in the fire.
Police claimed the estimated damage to the property was about R120 000; a crippling loss to say the least.
It was later speculated the house caught fire only after the vehicle was set alight.
“Specialised fire investigators from Amanzimtoti Dog Unit attended to the scene and the case is under investigation,” concluded Sgt Nyembe.
