No conclusion to Ward 7 issues

DESPITE the various disputes between the ward 7 community members and their Ward councillor, it seems that matters are far from being resolved.

Although work was started on Sasko’s storm water system, things came to an abrupt halt after arguments started between members of the community who had been hired to work on the storm water sites and the contractor.

According to the community members, they decided to down tools after working for two months without receiving payment.

“We were told that there were issues regarding the payment system and that things would be sorted out soon, but we all eventually saw that we were waiting and working in vain,” said Sindisiwe Mabaso a member of the community who worked on the site.

According to community member Smanga Zwane, the community members have lost faith in the municipality and in their ward councillor Thulani Ndlovu.

“Nothing that was provided on the memorandum has been addressed, instead the municipality keeps asking seven days extensions to try and resolve these issues. The ward councillor has never met up with members of the community to at least tell us what we can expect moving forward,” said Zwane.

The councillor of Ward 7 was contacted regarding the various issues raised by the community but to no avail.
