A nightmare that lasted for over a year finally ended in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court last week for two former Spar employees. The Court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute Verne Moodley and Dirk Wentzel after they had been charged with theft of over R100 000.
Both pleaded not guilty to the charge. The pair was not called to give evidence in Court. Both were kept in custody for 10 days following their arrest in June 2015 and steps are being taken to claim damages from the State. They were eventually let out on R1 000 bail each. “I am so glad that this nightmare is over for my family and I during which time my wife gave birth. We are now free to go on living.” Mr Wentzel said.
