
Police in the Uthukela Cluster arrested seven suspects over the weekend for crimes related to drugs, stolen property, unlicensed firearms and unlicensed ammunition.
Yesterday (Monday), six of these suspects appeared in various courts in the Uthukela Cluster.
On Friday, Estcourt police arrested a 26-year-old woman in Harding Street. She was found in possession of clothing suspected to have been stolen.
Later the same day, a 42-year-old man was arrested in the Kwabhekuzulu area of Estcourt after he was found in possession of 15 rounds of unlicensed ammunition.
Bergville police added to the list by arresting a 46-year-old man on Sunday at around midnight. He was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm in the Rookdale area. This was followed by an arrest in the Emmaus area, where a 41-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Winterton SAPS arrested a 42-year-old man in a house along the R600 road on Saturday, also around midnight and also for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
On Sunday, Ladysmith SAPS added to the total by arresting a 33-year-old man in the Emagogweni area for possession of six unlicensed rounds of ammunition.
The seventh suspect was given a notice to appear in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on May 5 after he was arrested in Forderville on Friday. He was found in possession of six grams of dagga.
