Two men were wounded after shoplifting at a store in Scott Street early yesterday afternoon.
According to sources, it was alleged one of the suspects tried to steal garments from the store, when security caught him.
“He tried to flee the scene but was accosted by security, who brought him back to the shop and requested police assistance.”
The suspect allegedly stabbed an employee before fleeing into a nearby building.
The Newcastle K9 unit intervened and allegedly shot and wounded the suspect.
