Rotary give sight to the elderly

The Rotary Club of Dundee initiated a project to collect spectacles for the elderly and needy people who cannot afford glasses.
Project ‘Bright Sight’ is a project linked to the Lions Club in Newcastle which aims to collect spectacles and make provisions for needy persons to have their eyes tested by an optometrist and then the relevant spectacles are provided.
“This is a new project for the Rotary Club of Dundee so we are still in the teething phase,” said Bev Garner, a Rotary Club member. The club is still negotiating with a local Optometrist to have local residents’ eyes tested but have not as yet found one who would test for a nominal amount or for free.
The Guinea Fowl is a drop off spot mainly as they are supportive and helpful and also as they are central in town. This is a permanent project headed by Evan Jones. Pieter Bester thanked all the donations so far and encouraged others to drop off all unwanted or old spectacles at the Guinea Fowl.
