THE Joubert family will lay Gideon Joubert (51) to rest tomorrow (Friday).

The technical officer who worked for Telkom for 34 years passed away from kidney cancer last Wednesday, leaving behind his wife, Leonie, and their son and daughter.

Gideon, who was diagnosed with cancer in January last year, will be remembered for his fighting spirit, and his will to live.

Leonie describes him as a spontaneous, hard-working and friendly person, who taught her empathy for cancer patients and the importance of staying positive.

With his last breaths, Gideon reminded his family of how much he loved them and thanked his wife for looking after him.

His funeral will take place on Friday at 11am from the Gerevormeerde Kerk, on the corner of Church and West Streets.

“We will miss him terribly,” said Leonie.
