A hop, skip and a jump to mark the 40th anniversary of the Soweto Uprising

Skip your way into Youth Month!

Youth Day, marking the 40th anniversary of the Soweto uprising, will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16. June is ear-marked as Youth Month and the Courier will be running relevant and national stories to mark the occasion.
Readers – especially younger ones (!) are encouraged to give input and air their views.
To kick-off, the dynamic Thandwangubani Skipping Champ Nxumalo of the Nyanyadu area is gearing up for a Skipping Championship on June 16 for schools who will compete in the Carter Mpanza Schools Tournament.

Says Champ: “And who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? The principal of Hlokomani showed his kids one or two things with a Double-Dutch skipping manoeuvre. It took him just minutes to do and this and he will two lead from the front. Well done, Ayanda Ncokwane.
“All those interested in skipping are welcome to join us as we mark Youth Day. Come and show your talent.”
