The Uthukela Cluster Intervention Team were working in the Bergville area over the weekend and recovered four abandoned firearms on Sunday.
The group of police officers are from various POP units in the KZN province and NIU, Durban.
The firearms were found in the Stulwane area of Bergville.
The recovery consisted of two 9mm pistols, a shotgun, two magazines and an air rifle.
The firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if they were used to commit a crime anywhere in the country.
