Update: Second guard still on the run

The second suspect linked to the brutal murder of prominent businessman Mr Haroon Warasally is still on the run.

With help from the Warasally family, the second security guard’s photograph was submitted to the Ladysmith Gazette and family have been circulating his identity document on social media.

The security guard has been identified as a 19-year-old from the Nquthu area.

An elite team of officers searched the area and the man’s homestead in Nquthu on Friday night, June 3, after the arrest of the first security guard. However, despite leads, he was not in the vicinity.

According to his family, the man hasn’t visited home for a while.

“It is believed that the man may be linked to an armed robbery in the Nquthu area, preventing him from hiding out there,” said a police source. He is believed to be in the vicinity of Ladysmith.

If he is seen or anybody knows of his whereabouts, please contact your nearest police station. Do not approach the suspect, as he is armed and dangerous.

The first security guard will be appearing today (Wednesday) in the Newcastle A-Court for a bail application.
