On Wednesday morning, June 15 police at Ematsheni, close to Bergville, received a report of a housebreak-in and theft in the area.
A 75-year-old resident discovered that several items had been stolen from her property, including two sheep. After opening a case, members from the Community Service Centre dug a little deeper into the incident and did some initial investigation on the matter.
This resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old suspect the same afternoon and the recovery of several of the stolen items, which included bedding, gas appliances and a sheep.
The suspect appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court where he faces charges of housebreak-in and theft, as well as stock theft.
