The Ladysmith Tactical Response Team (TRT) are making deep inroads in combating the drug trade in the Ladysmith area. Three men have been arrested and appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday) for possession of illegal drugs.
All three were arrested between 2pm and 4pm on Tuesday.
A 37-year-old man was arrested in Umbulwane after he was found with close to 200 parcels of dagga. The drugs weigh in at around 1.9kg, with a street value of approximately R3000.
A 28-year-old man was arrested in Shezi Street after he was found to have 0.2kg of dagga with him. The dagga has a street value of around R300.
The third man, aged 28, was arrested in Tsakane, Steadville, after 14 whole mandrax tablets and two half tablets were found in his possession. The estimated street value of the drugs is around R1500.
