BB gun terror: Teenagers use stray dog for target practice
The petrified dog attempted to escape but sustained injuries to its body and one foot.
Tired and in pain, a small Maltese poodle looked for help. Instead, he found hostility from the people he sought assistance from.

“A group of youngsters were shooting the dog with BB guns, and the poor thing was so scared,” said a woman, who opted to remain anonymous.
The resident said she noticed the dog roaming around Lennoxton for a while, but at first believed it belonged to someone in the neighbourhood.

However, she recently noticed the dog sleeping on the sidewalk near her mother’s house.
“The poor thing was curled up in the cold and I tried to get help for it, but was unable to.”
Uncertain of what to do, the resident’s mother started leaving food and water for the dog.
“My mom is a bit old to take it in, but she would leave food outside for it.”
On Monday, the resident noticed youngsters shooting the dog.

After the youngsters got bored of their game, they vanished and the dog returned to the area as it knew the concerned resident’s mother would show it some compassion.
It’s search for solace was short lived, as the group of youngsters returned on Tuesday and started shooting the dog again with their BB guns, but left when they saw the concerned resident approaching.
The dog has allegedly been living on the streets for the past month, neglected and in need of attention.
Now, it has finally found a haven of peace.
On Tuesday, shortly after the youngsters injured it, Newcastle Sun staff took it into their care. The dog has since found a loving home, and will no longer have to scrounge for food for survival.
