Update: Maltese allegedly shot with BB gun

NEWCASTLE – Social media was abuzz with anger regarding the Maltese that was allegedly shot with a BB gun.

However, it seems the shots were fired in an attempt to save the dog’s life.
Sidhika Gokul explained her sons used their BB guns when four large dogs attacked the smaller one.

“Due to dogs mating in the area, the big dogs attacked the smaller one and it was howling in pain. We tried to throw water over the dogs to stop the fight, but that did not work. It was then the BB gun was used, as we hoped to scare the dogs away from continuing to hurt the little one. It was never our intention to hurt it,” she said.
Mrs Gokul said she too had noticed the Maltese in the streets for a while, and was thankful it was taken into safety.
