SABC’s decision not to air violence overruled
ICASA has ruled that the SABC withdraw its decision not to air images of violence

The Independent Communication Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has ruled that the SABC withdraw its decision not to air images of violence (such as protests).
ICASA is an independent regulatory body of the South African government, established in 2000 by the ICASA Act to regulate both the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors in the public interest.
In a ruling today (Monday), acting chairperson Rubben Mohlaloga made an announcement in Johannesburg after numerous members of the civil body laid a complaint about the broadcaster’s decision to stop broadcasting violent footage.
