Update: ANC ward candidate survives shooting

Muzi Mazibuko, a ward 15 candidate in the Peacetown area, has been discharged from hospital after being attacked by unknown gunmen in his house on Wednesday last week

As we approach the August 3 local government elections, a ward candidate in Peacetown was shot in his house last Wednesday.

Spokesperson of the ANC in the region of Ukhahlamba, Sipho Hlomuka, stated that security measures have been taken to ensure that all candidates are secured and well protected.

He went on to say that all hot-spots in the region are being monitored by police, stating that they have a safety plan that will be enforced.

Muzi Mazibuko, a ward 15 candidate in the Peacetown area, was discharged  from hospital yesterday (Thursday) after being in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following a surprise attack by unknown gunmen at his home last week Wednesday.
